Shi Yong Xin, who is from Anhui province west of Shanghai, was born in 1965. He entered Shaolin temple as a novice at the age of eight. Twenty-four years later, he was enthroned as Shaolin's head monk, thus inheriting a responsibility transmitted down 34 generations. Shi Yong Xin also assumes many religious and associative responsibilities: president of Shaolin's charitable social action association, director of the Henan Buddhist Association, representative of the People's National Congress, member of the National Federation of Youth. In addition, Shi Yong Xin has written several books so as to spread Zen thought and knowledge of the martial arts through-out the world. In the photo, he is holding a hammer weapon in his hand whose end is in the form of a melon. It was already in use during the Spring and Autumn period (722-481 A.D.) and under that of the Kingdom of Combatants (475-221 A.D.).

Originaire de la province de Anhui, à l'ouest de Shanghai, Shi Yong Xin naquit en 1965. A l'âge de 8 ans, il entra au temple de Shaolin comme novice. Vingt quatre ans plus tard, il était intronisé chef de Shaolin, héritant ainsi d'une charge transmise depuis 34 générations. Shi Yong Xin endosse également de nombreuses responsabilités religieuses et associatives : président de l'association de charité d'action sociale de Shaolin, directeur de l'association bouddhiste de Henan, représentant du congrès national du peuple, membre de la fédération nationale de la jeunesse. En outre, Shi Yong Xin a écrit plusieurs livres afin de diffuser de part le monde la pensée du zen et des arts martiaux. Sur la photo, il tient à la main une arme marteau dont l'extrémité a la forme d'un melon. Elle était déjà utilisée sous la prériode de Printemps et Automne (722-481 av. J.-C.) et sous celle des Royaumes Combattants (475-221 av. J.-C.).
